Warren Buffett meets Sherlock Holmes

Matt Groening
Matt Groening is the brilliant creator of the Homer Simpson series. The quote "Kids, you tried your best and failed miserably. The lesson is never try." is in the 2007 edition of the Oxford Dictionary of Modern Quotations.

Although it is not directly about investing, I included it because actually there is a lesson here on investing. Most people are not successful as investors. From time to time, they have a stock that does well. Or they make some trades that do well. But, when they are honest with themselves, they recognize that most likely it was due to luck than through a clear strategy that can be repeated time after time.

Believe it or not, just as Homer Simpson says, the lesson is not to try. Or, at least, not to try so hard.

The skill in investing is being able to identify great companies selling at profitable prices. It is the management of these companies that will grow the sales and the earnings which in turn will grow the price.

In other words, management does the trying on your behalf.

Valuesoft is all about helping investors find these companies.
